When should I RSVP by? We are inviting 100 people to some or all of our various wedding events and because the actual numbers attending will undoubtedly be less than 100, we need to ensure that there is space and catering in place for the correct numbers attending. Therefore we would kindly ask that you RSVP by the 30th June 2010 so that we can plan the room layouts. If you are reading this after the 30th June 2010 or you are unable to confirm your reservation until after the 30th June 2010, then please Contact Us. If your invitation allows you to bring a guest, you should ensure that you enter their name on your RSVP form too. This will enable them to be cleared for access to the gardens (free of charge) and in addition, it will ensure that they have a reserved seat during the evening barbecue meal. Are you having a Wedding Breakfast? The Wedding Breakfast is at 3pm on the day of the wedding. However, Due to the size of Jermyns House at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and fire regulations, we have had to limit our guest size to immediate family and wedding organisers only. Please ensure that you check your invitation. Therefore, please be sure to check your personal invitation as you will either be attending Jermyns House at 3pm or 6pm. Our guests that are attending the Drinks Reception will be free to explore the 180 acres of gardens at Sir Harold Hillier gardens before 6pm as their name(s) will be on an approved wedding guest list located with a staff member at the entrance to the gardens at the Visitors Centre. What is the dress code? Black tie for the gentlemen and evening/cocktail dress for the ladies. Please Note: that black tie means a bow tie and not a black suit tie as this would be more appropriate for funerals and although we are not planning 4 weddings, we certainly do not want a funeral just yet either. If you do not own a bow tie of any colour then a red or other similar standard tie may be worn in place of a bow tie as we really do not want you to have to purchase anything in order to attend our wedding. Ladies! This obviously does not apply to you, as wearing a bow tie may look a bit odd! We expect most of our guests that are attending the service and the evening event to wear the same attire all day but if you wish, you may change during the day. A change of shoes for the ladies is recommended when walking in the gardens although there are paved pathways in most areas. Note: The groom will be wearing his dinner jacket to get married in and throughout the evening but it is entirely up to you as to whether you change into eveningwear later on or wear your evening attire all day as the groom is going. (Optional) Shop for Dinner Jackets We recommend that you treat the above as more of a guideline only and if in doubt then please feel free to Contact Us. I cannot dance, what should I do? Flap your feet about like a penguin and wave your arms around like a monkey, then when you gain confidence you should make an announcement like "Check this out!" so that everyone can see your moves. Failing that, we are hoping to provide some very quick and very basic dance steps to get you by in ballroom (TBC) and anything else played and even some ballroom can be danced as you normally would at any party or club. Consideration has been given to all of our guests to ensure that there is a variety of music and/or the music played is such that it is appropriate for any kind of dancing. Therefore, it will not all be partner dancing and if you have perhaps only danced in a nightclub then you will not be excluded and will find that you are able to participate if you want to as some classic pop will also be played.Where do I park my car? In Romsey, view the following link: Parking in Romsey. Parking in Romsey is very limited so please allow extra time to find a suitable parking space. Usually parking is available in parking area A, D and F, which is located just before the Waitrose car park. Then it is just a short walk down Linden Road and the church is located across the road marked 'The Hundreds' in yellow on the map. In Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, you should park anywhere where it is marked 'P' on the following map: Sir Harold Hillier Gardens Parking. Please note: To make it easier to access your car at the end of the evening, parking at 'Jermyns House' is not accessible. Parking is fairly easy at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, just follow the signs into Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and you should be able to find a parking spot. In the event that you have tried all parking areas, you may as a last resort use one of the disabled parking spaces near the entrance to the Visitor Centre Pavilion and gardens. How do I find my way around Sir Harold Hillier Gardens? Staff will also be on hand in the Visitor Centre which is the first building (on your right) you come to at the entrance to the gardens. The gardens also have many signposts. I did not receive an invitation, am I not invited? NO you are not invited. Wedding Crashers will be swiftly evicted!
On a more serious note: Our guest list was compiled over a year before the wedding and it has had to take into account available space at the wedding reception and almost certainly, now over a year later, the guest list would have changed but we have committed ourselves to the original list. Do I need to buy a gift? NO! What if I really do want to buy a gift? We really have far too many household items already and our wedding is for you to come to and enjoy without needing to buy anything so it really is not necessary. If you still feel that you do want to buy something then we do have some furniture that we are looking to buy and weddings obviously cost many thousands of pounds as do honeymoons and therefore we will not turn down any donations in sterling or dollars. If you prefer to donate online, then please click the 'Donation' button below and follow the instructions but really it is not necessary, just bring yourself to the wedding and enjoy it.
What time should I arrive? The Wedding is at 1pm. (For those invited) How do I get from Romsey Methodist Church to Sir Hillier Gardens? I want to stay the night, are there any hotels nearby? Below are three links to hotels in the area: SO51 0QA is the postcode of the afternoon/evening venue (Sir Harold Hillier Gardens). SO51 8BZ is the postcode for the church. How long do I have to wait for my uploaded photos to be approved? When you upload a photograph of the wedding, Tim and Rachel will instantly be notified. Not all photographs will be published on the website but we will keep and treasure all photographs submitted to us. Please allow up to 48 hours for your photographs to be approved (Unless we are on our honeymoon of course and then it could be a lot longer!) Where can I find out more information? Try our Last Minute Announcements page.
